A Visit to the Windsor Palace in Great Britain

Who wouldn't want to see the castle The Queen lives in? Atop, the Windsor Palace, the British flag proudly soars. Well, why wouldn't it when it is the largest and oldest castle in the world? It spans an area of thirteen acres and dates back to close to a thousand years.

Visitors to the Windsor Palace can view exhibitions consisting of paintings, manuscripts, books and drawings. The castle also contains priceless pieces from the Royal Collection, artworks owned by royalty of past times, not owned by the Queen personally but held in trust for Great Britain as a whole nation.

The Windsor Castle in Great Britain is also home to St George's Chapel, where at least ten kings are buried. Visitors may attend the service in the chapel, too; however, it is closed on Sundays. The Semi-State Rooms open to visitors during winter.

Currently, the castle is featuring an exhibition about Henry the 8th as it has been 500 years since his rise to the throne.

There are several pre-booked tours available for groups who wish to visit the castle. There are tours that highlight the castle's great kitchen. There are also evening tours of the State Apartments.

From March to October, the castle opens at 9:45 in the morning and closes at 5:15 in the afternoon. From November to February, the castle closes an hour earlier. However, opening times may change drastically as events in the palace require. Remember, the Queen still lives here.

Ticket prices range from GBP 4.95 for groups of 15 and above to around GBP 16 for an individual adult.
