Panna National Park - A Wild Trail That is Actually Wild!

Be it the king of jewels or the king of animals - Panna is one such place in India that will leave you mesmerised. Apart from being a famous diamond mining place, Panna is popular for its enchanting wildlife sanctuary that is home to some of the rarest of species of mammals, birds and reptiles. Situated in the heart of Madhya Pradesh, this rich green land is just 55 km. from the popular city Khajuraho, which is frequented for its unique sculptures and ancient temples. * If you wish to go for a jeep safari inside the park, remember that the timings are 6:30 to 10:30 AM & 2:30 to 5:30 PM.

* You have to pay an entry fee at the park, which is Rs. 40 for the residents of India and Rs. 500 for the foreigners. Apart from that, if you are carrying a camera - there is an extra charge for it.

* Usually, the jeep safari starts from the Mandla village, which itself is a peaceful and relaxing place. It offers an amazing view of the sunrise and the sunset.

* Avoid feeding the animals and wearing flashy colors (that attract the wild animals).

* Adventure lovers can also go for an exciting night safari at Gangau or elephant safari.

* Wildlife freaks, if lucky, can spot a number of mammals (tiger, leopard, wild dog, wolf, hyaena, sloth bear, sambar, chital and nilgai), and reptiles in the park.

* Panna wildlife sanctuary, as per records, serves as a home to over 200 avifauna (bird) species. While exploring the park, you can spot and click several colourful birds like white necked stork, bareheaded goose, honey buuzzard, king vulture, blossom headed parakeet, paradise flycatcher and slaty headed scimitar babbler.

* Moreover, for sightseeing, one can head towards the Pandav falls and the Rajgarh Palace.
