Abalone diving is one of the popular water sports and today it is considered as one of the most dangerous water sports. It is a water sport that is highly thrilling and exciting. This kind of diving is not done for fun but for the sake of finding a type of sea creature called abalone.
Abalone are edible sea snails that are available in deep waters of seas or oceans which makes hunting for the same by the divers most dangerous. Majority of them is found in cold waters along the coastal line of all the countries except for few.
Abalone diving is allowed only from April to November and a diver is allowed to take only three per day and a total number of 24 per year. Law allows taking only red ones and bans taking of black, pink, white and flat ones. It is illegal to sell sport obtained Abalone.
An diver is generally well equipped when going for a sport which is highly adventurous in nature and involves great risk. An equipment used by the diver are thick wet suit which includes a hood, gloves, mask and booties.

Tasmania of Australia provides 25% of yearly world abalone harvest. Scuba diving for abalone is allowed in Tasmania and the number of abalone that can be taken in is restricted to 10 per day. Generally black lip and green lip abalone are fished in this place for recreational purposes.
