Kenya Safaris - Your Expectations

Everyone has their own idea of what a special, holiday of a lifetime should be. Many think of a sunny beach on a paradise island, some think of a mountain hike, and others such as myself love wildlife safaris, and what better place to go on a wildlife safari than Kenya in Africa.

If you are also interest in such a holiday, but have no idea of what to expect, then here are some useful tips on some of the things you can expect to see and do.

Culture
The culture in Kenya is diverse and amazing. The main language spoken as well as English is Swahili. There are still active tribes that live in Kenya, such as the Masai and the Kikuyu. If you are lucky enough whilst on safari, you may receive an invitation to check out a tribal village and be educated on the tribal way of life.

Scenery
Kenya has some of the greatest scenery on this earth in and around it. It has many lakes, such as Lake Nakuru, Lake Naivasha and most famously Lake Victoria - which also borders Tanzania and Uganda. Mount Kenya is one of the largest Mountains in the world and it is also where Kenya received its name. It is not only a beautiful Mountain to see, but also to climb or hike.

Wildlife
Kenya is home to some of the greatest National Parks and Game Reserves in the world, such as the Masai Mara, Amboseli and Tsavo West and East. Many of these parks are home to wildlife such as the 'Big Five' (Black Rhino, Cape Buffalo, Masai Lion, Leopard and Elephant), as well as various varieties of Gazelle, Giraffe and two species of Zebra.
