Tanzania Safari Destinations

Tanzania is arguably the greatest destination in the world to see a fantastic mixture of wildlife and scenery. To give you more of an insight in to what you can expect to see whilst on an adventure vacation there, I have summarised some of the greatest tourist attractions in this beautiful and culture filled country.

Serengeti National Park - The Serengeti is the most famous National Park in the world. Not only does it boast great densities of some of Africa's greatest safari animals, but it also has the perfect flat and plain terrain to make spotting wildlife easier than most other parks.

The Serengeti also plays its part in one of the great natural wildlife wonders of the world, the great migration. The migration consists of more than a million wildebeest taking their annual journey through the Serengeti and into the Masai Mara to find fresh grazing pastures. It certainly is quite a sight to see 1 million of these great beasts in a giant herd, travelling in sync!

Mount Kilimanjaro - This great Mountain is one of the largest in the world, standing at a staggering 4,877 metres feet tall. Many people seeking a thrill for adventure choose to hike Kilimanjaro over a period of 3-6 days. Views of different sides of the Mountain can also be seen whilst driving around Kenya and Tanzania, so you are quite likely to see it at least once on your Tanzania travels.

Ngorongoro Crater Conservation Area - The Ngorongoro Conservation Area is actually part of the greater Serengeti ecosystem. The whole area is beautiful and wildlife rich, and is a particularly good destination for those active folk who enjoy hiking and walking, but undoubtedly the biggest draw for safari-goers in this area is the fabulous Ngorongoro Crater.

This is an African Eden - a dip in the landscape which offers lush greenery, sparkling waters and amazing wildlife to those who dare to venture down the 2000ft high walls. A day spent here is a day spent in safari paradise!

Lake Victoria- It is a shame that this beautiful corner of the world is often overlooked by visitors to Tanzania. Lake Victoria is not top of the list for spotting game, but those people who have the time and the inclination to visit the shores of this vast lake will be richly rewarded with lovely scenery and an authentic insight into the lake-side lifestyle, largely unchanged for many, many years.

Feel like an explorer at Speke Bay, taking a canoe over the waters. Go on a fishing trip with the local fishermen, listening to their songs and learning their traditional fishing methods. Or visit Lukuba Island, and watch great cormorants skimming and dipping into the waters, and monitor lizards sunning themselves on huge granite boulders.
