Biking Down the Capital District in New York

With only 90 miles to cover, this is one of the most scenic biking routes to take. You will be able to explore the road while on your bike. It is a smooth path, with only minimal gravel and the twists and turns that you make while on the road are fun and adventurous.

You will not have a dull moment while riding down the road. There are many canyon carvings that you can view while driving. One stoplight along the way, but the rest of the way is smooth driving with minimal cops.

Rolling hills and long straight-a-ways allow you to have a relaxing ride. This area is relatively close to Lake Placid if you are interested in visiting the town. There are excellent hiking trails as well as a museum devoted to the Olympics. The town is also covered with local artisan shops carrying handmade specialty items.

The scenery along the way is also great for viewing pleasure, although it is wise to stay off the interstate because it is less scenic and adds a little more time to the trip.

Depending on your preference of riding, this might be the path to take. The beautiful landscapes, and rolling hills of 6W will relax you and allows you to spend time while riding across the hills taking in the colors, fresh air, and winding roads.

It is 90 miles away from the capital, Albany allowing you to take in all the splendors and amenities of New York before visiting the glorious capital. You should be able to make it there on one tank of gas with no problem allowing it to be a small budget trip.

There are several small towns along the way have gas stations to get snacks, or take a break from riding on the road. Newburgh is a larger city on the way with fine dining and lodging options if you choose to stay the night.

This is great if you are riding from a farther off town instead of starting as close. When you get to OCC, you will be able to shop in the Mecca store for those of you who are Mecca fans. The bikes are built to put on display for others to see. There are car and bike shows that are hosted often on weekends which give you an added bonus when driving through.

This is one of the best courses to take while driving through NY since it is scenic, and has a lot of places to stop along the way. It is highly rated, and you will be glad you did when you take on the smooth roads of the mountains.
