Top 4 Unlikely Places for Vacations

The Caribbean, the Mediterranean and the European countries - these are a few of the most popular areas on Earth where vacationers congregate like ants on sugar. As a result, many travelers are missing out on the equally, if not more, stunning places in other parts of the globe.

Admittedly, security concerns, accommodation issues and transportation problems make these places less popular as tourist spots. But if you want to have a unique, memorable and adventurous vacation, you can go off the beaten track and visit these unlikely places for travel and leisure.

Naturally, we must caution against going to these countries without ample information on what to do, where to go and how to ask for help. Your travel agent and embassy will be of considerable assistance in this matter.

Afghanistan

Yes, you read that right - Afghanistan. We recommend the Band-e-Amir National Park, the country's first ever. Your efforts in getting there will be rewarded with views of five ultra-beautiful lakes, which is a study in peace, solitude and grandeur - a far cry from the conventional images of the country.

As many foreign tourists are becoming aware of its natural beauty, the area is expected to become safer with the local government taking the necessary measure for relative peace and security.

Georgia

We are, of course, talking about the sovereign Eurasian state formerly part of the Soviet Union. Despite the wars that have been wages in the country, it is a beautiful nation with equally beautiful people. One of its foremost attractions is the Shio-Mgvime Monastery, home of the largest monastic congregation in the country since the 6th century.

But it is not just the monastery that attracts an increasing number of visitors to the country. You have the wonders of the Grand and Little Caucasus, beautiful mountain resorts, picturesque historical monuments and the Black Sea's wonderful coastline to visit as well.

Haiti

The country may have suffered from a devastating earthquake especially in and around the capital but the countryside is as beautiful as ever. You can visit Labadie, which is undoubtedly one of the safest places to travel in the country.

You can book a cruise to Labadie. Since the resort community has high walls and security forces patrolling it around the clock, you and your family will be safe. The waters are so clean, the facilities so modern and the staff so nice that you will often forget that you are in one of the world's poorest countries.

Somalia

Yes, the country has been torn apart by civil wars but there are pockets of places away from the capital of Mogadishu, both in terms of geography and of atmosphere. You may think of these places as sane while the rest of the country can be quite mad.

We recommend Bosaso City on the northern part of the country, which just so happens to be a bustling port rapidly growing in importance in the region.

You can enjoy a cosmopolitan experience in the city, thanks to its pristine beaches rivaling the Caribbean, the beautiful Lake Laag and the swinging nightlife venues. You can even have an Amsterdam-like experience with the khat, which is a local amphetamine served in coffee shops.

If you want to get out of your comfort zone in vacations, these places deserve your second glance.
