A Few Interesting Aspects of Barcelona Weekends

Barcelona is situated on the north- eastern coast of the Iberian Peninsula, overlooking the Mediterranean Sea and is the second largest city in Spain, the first being Madrid. Barcelona is one of the most important cities because it contributes a major portion to the revenue of Europe in the form of trade and commerce and entertainment and tourism.

The city is vibrant and colourful and provides the perfect escape after a dragging week. You will find all the ingredients that are necessary to rejuvenate you, and you can immerse in yourself in the rich culture of Spain and enjoy yourself with all the opportunities of entertainment that this city provides.

Transport: If you want to come into the city by air, then you will have to land at the Barcelona Airport, which is located in the city of El Prat de Llobregat, around 17 kilometres away from the main city. Vueling Airlines, Air Europa and Spanair are the principal airlines operating through this airport.

There is a smaller airport located at Sabadell. To move in and around the city you can avail the services of the metro, bus networks and tramways. RENFE, the railway network in Spain serves Barcelona as well.

Sight- Seeing: Barcelona has so much to offer that it is debatable that whether you will be able to cover all the important locations in a weekend. If you are keen on the performing arts and theatres, then you should visit the Palau de la Música Catalana concert hall, which hosts one brilliant performance after another.

You can also watch the performance of the Symphonic Orchestra, or if you are more inclined towards the great works of art by the masters, the head to the National Museum of Art of Catalonia. If you like the modern arts, then the Barcelona Museum of Contemporary Art should capture your interest.

The Picasso Museum and Fundacio Antoni Tapies also houses brilliant examples of Spanish, contemporary art. The city also home to some of the world heritage sites like Park Guell, Palau Guell and Casa Mila. Then there are other sites like the Santa Maria del Pi church, Torre Agbar, Casa Vicens, Sagrada Familia and many more such architectural wonders.

Food and Restaurant: The Shoko Restaurant overlooks the Mediterranean Sea and it serves delicious Asian food. Los Caracoles has a very soothing ambience and serves delicious sea food and continental dishes.

The Buda Restaurant is an international restaurant, serving food from all over the world. The Costa Gallega Restaurant is popular joint for the locals, so a visit to this road side joint will give you taste of authentic Spanish food.
