Traveling to Peru can be an exciting adventure, what with the amazing Inca Trails, the impressive Macchu Picchu along with the other wonderful sights and sceneries to discover in this South American country. But it is always wise to pack accordingly, and this will depend on the kinds of trips and vacation packages that you are planning to take while in Peru.
Some general and practical tips can be taken into consideration, however, and here are a few of them:
* Essentials. Whatever the weather will be when you get to Peru, it is good to always bring the following items in your bag: sunglasses, sunblock lotion, lip balm or lip moisturizer and a first aid kit that would include some treatment for altitude sickness and any prescription medication that you may require throughout the duration of your trip.
You should also pack a roll of toilet paper, some spare batteries for your video and audio equipment, and some plastic, zip-lock bags to secure your valuables. This will prove handy when you are going to go hiking or rafting. Some travel guides would also advise you to bring some water purification tablets because the tap water in Peru is not suitable for drinking.
* Clothing and Footwear. Before packing clothes for your trip, check what the weather will be like in Peru. Some all-weather choices could be shirts made of synthetic fabric (so they will dry faster than 100% cotton fabric), cargo pants with zippered pockets, a waterproof or windproof outerwear or jacket. Go for some durable walking or hiking shoes (some would prefer boots) and socks with sock liners. Also remember to pack at least one swimwear and a pair of shorts.
* Sun Protection. Peru can be hot and sunny. Make sure to avoid that sun burn and be good to your skin! Sun screen and hat are highly advisable.
